Lisa Hargrove
MS, LMFT
Hi, I’m Lisa…

I’m so glad you’re here and considering therapy with me.

I began my journey as a therapist while attending Seattle Pacific University in 1998. After graduating with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, I spent about nine years working in the field—supporting children and families, women, and couples through a variety of challenges. I’ve had the opportunity to work in community mental health with at-risk youth in the foster care system, provide case management for private insurance, and now serve clients in private practice. Those experiences have given me a broad perspective and deep appreciation for the unique paths people walk.

When my husband and I started our family, I made the decision to step away from work for a time to raise and homeschool our children. Those 10 years as a wife and mother shaped me in ways that no classroom could, and I bring that understanding into my work with every client I meet.

I’m passionate about helping people who are struggling with fear, anxiety, strained relationships, parenting challenges, depression, grief, or loss. I love working with those who want to explore their struggles through a biblical lens and discover how faith can bring comfort and direction in difficult times. I also have a special heart for individuals with learning disabilities, having personally navigated that world both for myself and alongside one of my daughters.

It has been so fulfilling—and truly an honor—to walk with my clients now that I have so much more life experience. We never stop growing or learning, and this work continues to remind me what a privilege it is to be trusted with someone’s heart and story.

If you’d like to learn more or see if we might be a good fit, I’d be happy to have a brief phone consultation to answer your questions and share a bit about my approach. Please feel free to schedule a consultation with me today!

Marriage Counseling
Navigating the complexities of relationships can be challenging, and having an outside perspective can be invaluable in overcoming obstacles. If both you and your partner are open to joining the process, couples' counseling could be the ideal solution for you. Whether you're facing conflicts, transitions, or simply seeking to strengthen your bond, my support is custom-tailored to meet your specific needs.

I also offer premarital counseling using the Prepare and Enrich inventory to help engaged couples build a strong foundation for marriage—exploring key areas like communication, expectations, and shared values.
For married couples, I provide a supportive space to identify and address negative patterns, heal from past hurts, and restore emotional connection. My goal is to help you and your partner rediscover joy, deepen trust, and grow together with renewed understanding and hope.
Family Counseling
I provide a safe and supportive environment to explore your emotions and navigate life's challenges. Whether your family is struggling with anxiety, behavior issues, family changes, or trauma, I'm here to offer guidance and support. I provide support for families as they navigate reconciliation and life transitions, helping each member feel heard and understood so stronger connections can grow.
Women's Mental Health
Life can feel heavy at times—whether you’re juggling relationships, work and family demands, or the many pressures women face today. I offer a supportive space where you can pause, breathe, and sort through what’s really going on. These sessions are designed to meet the unique needs of women and young adults as they work through life transitions, depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, with compassion and practical guidance along the way.
Learning Disabilities Advocacy
I understand how stressful it can feel to navigate the school system and the social challenges that often come with learning disabilities. I’m here to walk alongside you—helping you advocate for your child, communicate with teachers, and partner with school support teams so your child can thrive both emotionally and academically.
I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to help us get acquainted and ensure I'm the right fit for your needs. You can reach me by phone (208) 449-6511 or email by clicking the link below.
Counseling Perspective
While my counseling approach is rooted in Christian principles and a biblical worldview, I wholeheartedly respect and value every client, regardless of their faith, background, or belief system. It is my sincere privilege to walk alongside you in your journey. My ultimate aim is to instill hope amidst challenges and to provide you with a sense of love, support, and encouragement throughout our time together. Your story matters to me, and I am committed to helping you navigate through life's trials with compassion and understanding.

Approach to Therapy
I approach counseling from a systemic viewpoint with a strong emphasis on the whole family. This means that I see you and your difficulties in the context of your relationships. I recognize the importance of connections and understand that your past and present interactions shape your perceptions, beliefs, and reactions. By exploring these relational dynamics, I aim to provide you with insights and strategies that can lead to healing and growth within your personal connections.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is like a deep dive into the emotional world of relationships. Picture it as a journey where we explore how you and your partner feel and connect with each other. It's all about understanding those emotions and needs that drive your interactions.
In EFT, we work together to uncover the patterns in your relationship – the good, the not-so-good, and everything in between. We'll figure out what's causing those bumps in the road and how to smooth them out. The goal? To help you both feel more connected, understood, and secure in your relationship.
Think of EFT as a roadmap to better communication and intimacy. Along the way, you'll learn to express your feelings more openly, and your partner will learn to respond in ways that bring you closer together. It's all about building a stronger, happier relationship that lasts.

Expresssive Therapy
If you struggle with finding words to fully express yourself, Expressive therapy allows you to use hands on expression through painting, drawing, sculpting, poetry, music, or writing to provide a healing outlet. The number of sessions is typically between 8-12 sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT typically 8-12 sessions, helps identify thought patterns that are destructive and intrusive leading to unwanted emotions and behaviors. This therapy can help with emotional wellbeing and lead to relief with depression or anxiety.
